What is a Desktop Service?

Also called Desktop as a Service or DaaS, it is a cloud based solution in which Virtual Desktops (VD) are created over the data center of a Cloud Service Provider (CSP). DaaS is not to be confused with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure or VDI in which VDs are created over an organization’s on premises data center. In a DaaS Solution, all the requisite infrastructure is sourced from a CSP. For each VD, the CSP will charge an agreed usage fee. DaaS solutions can also be overlaid with various productivity applications to execute specific tasks. The user experience is almost identical to that of your average desktop PC.
